This nice woman in her 40s came to our Albany, New York, office after 3 pregnancies. She felt that she had lost a full cup size following the pregnancies and no longer even filled up a B-cup bra. When her breasts were engorged during her pregnancies, she said, she was a full C- to D-cup bra size and was comfortable how that looked and felt. She came to Dr. Jeffrey Rockmore for a breast augmentation consultation in Albany to see if she could return to that breast size.
Her preoperative photographs show a loss of volume of the top portion of the breasts. Women frequently complain about this lack of fullness above the bra line after losing breast volume. She also had a widened distance between her breasts, which made her feel like she had no cleavage. In these cases, we select an implant with sufficient width to narrow the space between the breasts. This creates improved cleavage, as can be seen from this patient's postoperative photographs. Dr. Rockmore used 425 cc moderate-plus-profile silicone implants placed behind her pectoral muscle to give a more natural slope of the breasts. He placed the implants through an inframammary approach, which is in the crease beneath the breasts that hides the scar quite nicely.
Dr. Rockmore performed breast augmentation at our outpatient surgery center down the street from our office. This woman was able to be home later that day and was able to drive after 3 days. She wore a sports bra for 3 weeks after her breast augmentation and was then able to wear any type of clothing that she desired.
